Michael and Julie Kennedy created the Hayden Kennedy Public Lands Defense Fund to honor their son's love of outdoor adventure. Hayden was an accomplished climber and skier who cared deeply about America's public lands.
While the large majority of Americans support protection of our public lands, a small number of powerful elected officials and policy makers have launched a series of attacks against both specific places and the critical laws that enable ongoing protection of public lands. The sheer number of bills, executive orders, resolutions, and legislative rules that push to dispose, transfer, and diminish our public lands is unprecedented. The three organizations will work together with the Kennedy family to determine the most effective strategy to deploy these funds in the defense of America's public lands.
The fund is administered by Access Fund, the national non-profit organization that protects America's climbing areas, in partnership with Black Diamond Equipment, Patagonia, and the Kennedy family.
